Wi-Fi operates in shared radio-frequency environments. Nearby networks, wireless devices, building materials, and other sources of interference can affect performance.
If the office is surrounded by other businesses or dense commercial buildings, interference can become especially relevant.
Critical fixed equipment should use wired Ethernet when practical. That includes many clinical workstations, servers, switches, and other infrastructure.
Wi-Fi is best used where mobility actually provides value.
Your guest network should be separated from the practice’s clinical environment. A visitor should not be able to move from the guest network toward systems containing patient information.
A common mistake is confusing an internet problem with a Wi-Fi problem. Your Wi-Fi network can be functioning correctly while the internet connection is down.
Test both separately. If devices can communicate with local systems but cannot reach internet services, the problem may be upstream of Wi-Fi.
